Ontario Allocates $75 Million for Anti-Tariff Ad Targeting Republican Audience in the U.S.

Ontario has committed $75 million towards launching a fresh anti-tariff commercial in the United States, with a specific focus on Republican voters. The advertisement features a recording of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan from 1987 emphasizing the drawbacks of tariffs and their adverse long-term effects.

Premier Doug Ford, an admirer of Reagan, believes that the recognizable voice of the former president will effectively resonate with Republicans, conveying the message that tariffs ultimately harm Americans. The premier’s office has confirmed that the ad will debut this week on Newsmax and Bloomberg. Additionally, over the next fortnight, it will be broadcasted on prominent networks such as Fox News, Fox Sports, NBC, CBS, CNBC, ESPN, and ABC, along with their local affiliates. The ad will also be aired on the local stations of Comcast, Spectrum, and Sinclair Group.

This initiative is part of a series of anti-tariff campaigns launched by the Ontario government in the U.S. The previous campaigns highlighted the enduring relationship between Canada, Ontario, and the U.S. as neighbors.
