Tegan Quin, half of the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, is a writer for the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot comic titled “Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. This comic showcases the well-known gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling along with their families, emphasizing the significance of community and connections during challenging times.
In her narrative, illustrated by Luciano Vecchio, Quin explores the story of twins Wiccan and Speed as they unite forces to combat Ultron while navigating their diverging paths as siblings. Expressing her excitement, Quin mentioned that as a twin, writing for characters like Wiccan and Speed in the Marvel Universe was a dream come true. She added that her Marvel debut with this story was not only thrilling but also felt truly magical. Quin also shared that dealing with Ultrons in the comic reminded her of certain encounters in the music industry, making it a cathartic experience to crush them in the storyline.
Apart from Quin’s contribution, the comic “Wiccan & Hulking” will feature works by other writers such as Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, along with artists like Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne.
Based in Vancouver, Quin is also advocating for Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026. Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian celebrities select one book for the nation to read, engaging in spirited discussions over four days and eliminating one book daily until a winner is chosen.
This year’s Canada Reads is scheduled to occur from April 13 to 16. Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have produced 10 studio albums, featuring popular tracks like “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their musical success includes selling over a million records, earning accolades such as Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, as well as nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the twins expanded their creative endeavors from music to literature with the release of their joint memoir, “High School,” and the middle-grade graphic novel series “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. Additionally, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and resources for 2SLGBTQ+ communities, leading to their recognition with the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
