Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is showing signs of improvement ahead of a crucial game against the Seattle Mariners in the American League Championship Series. Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided an update on Springer’s condition, stating that the player is recovering well after being hit by a pitch on his right knee in Game 5.
Schneider mentioned that Springer underwent a CT scan which showed no major issues, confirming it was just a contusion. Despite the initial scare, Springer is feeling much better and is receiving treatment to aid his recovery. The 36-year-old outfielder was forced to leave the game after the incident but is now expected to participate in team activities to assess his knee’s functionality.
Schneider expressed confidence in Springer’s resilience, highlighting his history of playing through injuries. The focus now is on ensuring that Springer is comfortable swinging and running before confirming his availability for Game 6. Springer has been a key player for the Blue Jays this season, boasting impressive statistics and contributing significantly to the team’s success.
In a separate update, Schneider mentioned that shortstop Bo Bichette is progressing well from his injury but has yet to resume running the bases. Bichette, known for his strong batting performance, has been sidelined since colliding with a Yankees catcher earlier in the season. Despite his absence, the Blue Jays remain focused on overcoming the Mariners’ lead in the series and securing a spot in the next round.
