Legendary rock band Rush has teased a special event at the 2026 Juno Awards happening in Hamilton this Sunday. In a newsletter to fans, the band hinted at a unique moment with Geddy & Alex and provided a link to purchase Junos tickets for March 29.
Last fall, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced their upcoming 2026 tour. This tour will feature Anika Nilles, who replaced the late drummer Neil Peart, who passed away from brain cancer in 2020. Nilles, a talented German drummer with a popular YouTube channel, had previously toured with Jeff Beck in 2022, impressing Lee during the experience.
While no specific details were shared, if Rush performs at the Junos, it will be the first time fans get to see the current lineup in action ahead of their upcoming world tour named Fifty Something. The tour will commence in Los Angeles in June, with four Toronto shows at Scotiabank Arena in August, and stops in Vancouver and Edmonton in December.
Formed in Toronto in 1968, Rush released their self-titled debut album in 1974. With a musical journey spanning decades, the band has released 19 studio albums, including 24 gold, 14 platinum, and three multi-platinum albums. Recently, on March 13, Rush unveiled the Grace Under Pressure: Super Deluxe box set, featuring their iconic 1984 concert at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens, showcasing the band’s peak creativity according to many fans.
Throughout their career, Rush has garnered accolades, winning the Juno for most promising group in 1975 and group of the year in ’78 and ’79. With a total of 10 Juno wins, their achievements include the inaugural Juno Award for best hard rock/metal album in 1991 for their 13th album, Presto.
CBC Music has contacted Rush for additional comments on the matter.
