“Laurin and Éthier Win Bronze at Skate America”

Canadian figure skaters Kelly Ann Laurin and Loucas Éthier secured the bronze medal in the pairs event at Skate America held in Lake Placid, New York. Their total score of 182.87, with 121.58 points in the free skating segment, placed them third in the competition. This marks their second bronze medal at Skate America, following their third-place finish in the 2022 event with a score of 156.94. Meanwhile, Japan’s Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara clinched gold with 215.99 points, while Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava from Georgia took home the silver with a score of 195.73. Miura and Kihara dominated the free skating segment, scoring 141.57 points, securing their top position on the podium. Metelkina and Berulava, who led after the short program, slipped to fourth place in the free skating segment.

In the men’s event, France’s Kevin Aymoz claimed his first Grand Prix victory after delivering a strong free skate performance, edging out Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov and Japan’s Kazuki Tomono for the gold medal. Aymoz finished with 253.53 points, while Shaidorov secured silver with 251.09 points, and Tomono settled for bronze with 245.57 points.

In the ice dance competition, Madison Chock and Evan Bates from the United States impressed with their rhythm dance performance, earning 84.77 points and leading ahead of Canada’s Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha. Chock and Bates are aiming for their 22nd Grand Prix medal and are in a strong position to secure victory. Lajoie and Lagha are currently in second place, closely followed by Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud from France in the battle for the silver medal.

The women’s event saw Japan’s Rinka Watanabe taking the lead after the short program, scoring 74.35 points, closely followed by Alysa Liu from the United States with 73.73 points. The competition remains tight, with Lara Naki Gutmann, Anastasiia Gubanova, and Kim Chae-yeon vying for the bronze medal. The final outcomes for all events will be determined on the last day of Skate America.
