After a series of mysterious hints, which included a massive mountain of ice blocks in downtown Toronto and a CN Tower takeover, Drake has finally dropped his highly anticipated ninth studio album, “Iceman.” Alongside this release, Drake surprised fans with two additional albums titled “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour,” all released simultaneously at midnight. The surprise albums were unveiled at the conclusion of Drake’s recent livestream event, “Iceman Episode 4,” where he treated fans to a total of 43 songs, amounting to roughly two and a half hours of music, with “Iceman” being the focal point.

Drake had been hinting at “Iceman” for quite some time, initially mentioning it in August 2024 following his well-publicized rap battle with Kendrick Lamar. During his Australia tour in 2025, Drake described the album as a personal dialogue with his fans that they needed to hear.

While Drake collaborated on the joint album “Some Sexy Songs 4 U” with PartyNextDoor in 2025, “Iceman,” “Habibti,” and “Maid of Honour” mark his first solo releases since 2023’s “For all the Dogs.” These new albums carry significant weight as Drake aims to uphold his status as a leading figure in the rap scene and strive towards achieving another No. 1 hit to surpass Michael Jackson’s record.

Addressing his feud with Kendrick Lamar, Drake confronts the aftermath of their rivalry on the track “Make Them Cry” from “Iceman.” Throughout the album, Drake reflects on the feud, taking swipes at various personalities including Lamar, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, DeMar DeRozan, LeBron James, and Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge, while also questioning his relationship with J. Cole.

The music videos accompanying “Iceman” prominently feature Toronto landmarks, showcasing Drake at iconic locations such as Sotto Sotto in Yorkville and the CN Tower. Notably, Drake was seen filming inside Mayor Olivia Chow’s office at Toronto City Hall, adding a unique local touch to his visuals. The video for “2 Hard 4 the Radio” captures Drake dancing inside the CN Tower’s observation deck, further emphasizing his connection to Toronto.

In a show of Canadian pride, Drake’s music video for “Slap the City” features him donning a fur jacket adorned with logos of Canadian brands like Canadian Tire, Sleep Country, and Molson Canadian. The album “Iceman” contains several references to Canadian locations and experiences, reinforcing Drake’s ties to his homeland.

While “Iceman” delves into Drake’s past conflicts and grievances over icy beats, the surprise albums “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour” showcase his versatility and exploration of different musical styles. “Habibti” delves into love songs with a twist, reflecting on the complexities of relationships, while “Maid of Honour” ventures into dancehall, house, Afro-swing, and U.K. rap, setting the tone for a vibrant summer party atmosphere.

Featuring collaborations with a diverse range of artists, including Central Cee, Popcaan, and Stunna Sandy, “Maid of Honour” offers a diverse mix of sounds tailored for club scenes and summer gatherings. With tracks like “New Bestie,” Drake delivers a lively and infectious party vibe reminiscent of his past hits.

Overall, Drake’s latest releases cater to a wide audience, blending personal narratives, musical experimentation, and celebratory vibes across the three albums.
