Jesse Compher scored her first two goals of the season, securing a late third-period goal to propel the Toronto Sceptres to a 4-3 victory over New York on Sunday. This countered the two-goal performance by the Sirens’ Kristyna Kaltounkova — the top draft pick this year.

Compher opened the scoring at 9:19 in the first period, giving the Sceptres a 1-0 lead, with assists from Allie Munroe and Maggie Connors. She extended the lead to 4-2 by converting a pass from Claire Dalton with 1:37 remaining at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The decisive goal came after Taylor Girard scored 21 seconds later for the Sirens. Girard scored her fourth goal, with Maddi Wheeler tallying her fourth assist.

Kaltounkova, the first pick in the 2025 draft from Colgate University and the Czech Republic, equalized 1-1 at 2:23 in the first period. Sarah Fillier and Anne Cherkowski provided the assists.

The Sceptres reclaimed the lead when Blayre Turnbull netted her third goal unassisted early in the second period. Kaltounkova tied the game 2-2 at 6:16 with her third goal of the season, assisted by Casey O’Brien and Maja Nylen Persson on a power play.

Toronto surged ahead again 1:19 later with Emma Maltais scoring her first goal of the season, assisted by Daryl Watts. Elaine Chuli made 37 saves for Toronto, while Kayle Osborne blocked 23 shots for New York.

In the upcoming matches, Toronto will face Ottawa at home on Tuesday, while New York will host Seattle at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Sunday as part of the Takeover Tour.
