After a prolonged dispute between them, the issues between Justin Baldoni and his co-star Blake Lively are not yet resolved. In a recent video shared on his official Instagram account, Baldoni, the star and director of the movie “It Ends With Us,” expressed his gratitude to fans for their support during the challenging times. He and his wife, Emily Baldoni, opened up about the healing process following a traumatic experience involving legal conflicts with Lively.
Acknowledging the painful events of the past few years, Baldoni emphasized the importance of letting the justice system take its course and allowing the truth to prevail. The couple mentioned feeling a sense of injustice and struggling to comprehend the events that transpired, particularly in the context of advocating for women’s rights.
The tension between the two escalated when Lively, married to actor Ryan Reynolds, accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and damaging her reputation during the film’s production. This led to a series of legal actions, including Lively filing a $250 million defamation suit against Baldoni and his production company, and Baldoni responding with a $400 million libel suit against Lively, Reynolds, their publicist, and The New York Times.
Subsequent legal proceedings saw a New York judge dismissing both parties’ claims, prompting them to reach a civil case settlement in May. In a joint statement released through their lawyers, Lively and Baldoni expressed their desire for closure and a positive online environment moving forward.
While the terms of the settlement remain undisclosed, Lively, despite not receiving compensation, was granted legal fees under California law. She is now seeking $8 million in legal costs from Baldoni. The movie “It Ends With Us,” adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel, became a commercial success, grossing over $350 million worldwide and ranking as the 20th highest-grossing film of 2024.
Looking ahead, the Baldonis indicated that there is more they wish to share but will do so at the appropriate time. Lively has yet to publicly respond to their video, with her latest social media post addressing the impact of digital violence and the dangers of retaliation.
