The Iqaluit RCMP have launched an investigation into a drowning incident in Frobisher Bay that occurred on Tuesday afternoon. According to a news release issued on Thursday, authorities were notified around 2:40 p.m. that an individual was observed swimming in the bay. Approximately 10 minutes later, reports indicated that the swimmer had gone underwater and failed to resurface.
By 3 p.m., emergency responders had recovered the body of a 32-year-old male. The RCMP stated that no foul play is suspected in the incident. The authorities are conducting a joint investigation with the Nunavut Coroner’s Office.
