A 31-year-old man, Trenton Henneberg from Port Moody, B.C., has been charged in connection with the homicide of Chantelle Moore, who was reported missing in November last year, according to investigators. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced on Friday that Henneberg is in custody, facing charges of second-degree murder and indignity to human remains approved by the B.C. Prosecution Service. It is believed that Henneberg and Moore were acquainted, and the incident was not a random occurrence.
This case involving 30-year-old Chantelle Moore is distinct from the incident related to Chantel Moore, 26, who was fatally shot by police in Edmundston, N.B., in 2020. Surrey RCMP was informed by Moore’s family of her disappearance on Nov. 18, 2024. Investigators discovered that Moore was last seen at a Langley hotel and had not been in contact since late October of that year. IHIT, in collaboration with other agencies, pieced together a timeline leading up to Moore’s disappearance. Search warrants were executed at various locations in B.C. in an effort to locate Moore’s remains, as stated by IHIT.
Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT described the investigation as one that “keeps us up at night,” emphasizing its complexity and impact.
