Jonathan David demonstrated his value to coach Luciano Spalletti by contributing a goal and an assist in Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Sassuolo in Serie A on Tuesday. Juventus, holding the fourth spot, maintained parity with Roma, who secured a 2-0 win against relegation-threatened Lecce. The two teams are currently three points adrift of Serie A leaders Inter Milan, with Inter having played two games less than both Juventus and Roma.
David, hailing from Ottawa, faced criticism after missing a penalty in the 1-1 draw with Lecce over the weekend. Despite this, he retained his starting position and played a pivotal role in securing the victory in the second half. Following an own goal by Sassuolo’s Tarik Muharemovic, David assisted Fabio Miretti for Juventus’ second goal in the 62nd minute, before finding the net himself just a minute later. The entire team, including substitutes and coach Spalletti, joined in celebrating David’s contributions.
