Canada has secured a spot in the upcoming SheBelieves Cup, alongside the United States, Argentina, and Colombia for the four-team women’s tournament scheduled in March. The Canadian team, ranked 10th, will kick off their campaign on March 1 against Colombia, ranked 20th, in Nashville. They will then face the U.S., ranked 2nd, on March 4 in Columbus, and Argentina, ranked 30th, on March 7 in Harrison, N.J. This will mark Canada’s fourth participation in the tournament, following their second-place finish in 2024, fourth-place finish in 2023, and third-place finish in 2021.

The reigning champion Japan claimed victory in 2025, ending the U.S.’s streak of five consecutive titles. The U.S. has emerged victorious in seven out of the ten editions held so far, with France and England clinching the title in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Canada’s head coach, Casey Stoney, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming competition, stating that it provides a valuable opportunity for the team to gauge themselves against strong opponents expected to feature in the 2027 World Cup. Stoney emphasized the significance of the SheBelieves Cup in testing the team and shaping them into a formidable unit, highlighting the diverse styles that each participating team brings, which will present challenges and aid in their development.

The Canadian women’s team concluded 2025 on a negative note, enduring a five-game losing streak and struggling with a 454-minute goal drought.
