The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards saw “The Pitt,” a gritty medical drama starring Noah Wyle, clinch top honors including best drama series and best lead actor. With 25 nominations, the HBO show was a frontrunner for the night. However, Apple TV’s comedy-horror series, “Widow’s Bay,” stole the show by winning best comedy series and multiple other awards, securing a total of 14 Emmys from 19 nominations.
Additionally, Apple TV’s post-apocalyptic series “Pluribus” took home awards for best lead actress in a drama and outstanding writing. HBO’s dark comedy “DTF St. Louis” also emerged victorious with several accolades, including best limited series.
Renowned actor and philanthropist Michael J. Fox received the prestigious Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his contributions to Parkinson’s disease research. The ceremony was hosted by Mariska Hargitay, who had already won Emmys for her documentary “My Mom Jayne” during the Creative Arts Emmys.
