Alberta Government Ends Teacher Strike, Sparks Union Preparations

Earlier this week, the UCP government led by Danielle Smith in Alberta utilized the notwithstanding clause to end a three-week strike by teachers, thereby preventing the Alberta Teachers’ Association from legally challenging the decision. Subsequently, the Alberta Federation of Labour indicated that preparations are underway for a potential general strike involving the province’s various unions.
