“Alberta Municipal Election Results: New Mayors and Councils Elected”

Unofficial and official election results are being shared by various municipalities in central and northern Alberta. Here is a summary of some key outcomes:

In St. Albert, Scott Olivieri secured the mayoral position with 57.9% of the votes, as voter turnout reached 30%. Red Deer and Red Deer County announced Cindy Jefferies as the new mayor and a mix of incumbent and fresh faces for council positions.

Jasper saw re-elected councillors along with new faces like Danny Frechette and Kable Kongsrud. Hinton elected Brian LaBerge as the new mayor, and the Town of Hinton Recreation Centre Modernization Plebiscite results were also revealed.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo re-elected Sandy Bowman as mayor, and various councillors were elected across different wards. Fort Saskatchewan will have Lisa Makin as the new mayor, while Morinville saw Simon Boersma acclaimed for a second term.

In the County of Northern Lights, Reeve Terry Ungarian and several incumbent councilors won re-election, with positive support for a plebiscite question on a nuclear power plant. Leduc and Leduc County announced familiar faces on their councils, with Glen Bienert and Bonnie Thomas as new councillors.

The County of Grande Prairie will have a mix of returning and new councillors, including incumbents and newly elected representatives like Terri Beaupre and Marty Tissington. Strathcona County saw Rod Frank re-elected as mayor and a majority of incumbent councillors retaining their positions.

In the City of Cold Lake, Bob Mattice emerged as the new mayor, while Grande Prairie residents re-elected Jackie Clayton as mayor. The City of Spruce Grove will have Jeff Acker as mayor, and Parkland County residents voted for Rod Shaigec as their mayor-elect.

Sturgeon County re-elected Alanna Hnatiw as mayor and a mix of incumbent and new councillors. High Level elected Josh Lambert as mayor and a combination of re-elected and new councillors. Ponoka saw a mix of acclaimed and elected councillors, and the M.D. of Greenview will have a mix of newcomers and familiar faces on its council.

Thalia Hibbs is leading the mayoral race in Lacombe City, while Lacombe County will see some new councillors alongside re-elected incumbents. These election results will be officially confirmed on October 24.
