Author Rachel Reid has decided to postpone the release of her upcoming hockey romance novel, “Unrivaled,” due to the challenges of managing newfound fame and the progression of Parkinson’s disease symptoms. Originally scheduled for a fall release, the book is now expected to launch in June 2027, as revealed in a recent Instagram video message.

“Unrivaled” will mark the seventh installment in Reid’s popular “Game Changer” series, focusing on the intertwined stories of hockey rivals and secret lovers, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. The series gained significant recognition after the first two books, “Heated Rivalry” and “The Long Game,” were adapted into a successful Crave original series, featuring Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, catapulting Reid to literary stardom.

In her Instagram update, Reid explained how recent life changes have limited her writing time and emphasized her commitment to delivering the best possible version of “Unrivaled.” She acknowledged the need for balance, noting that despite positive developments, the progression of her Parkinson’s symptoms has slowed her writing pace.

Reid first learned of her Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2023, coinciding with director Jacob Tierney’s interest in adapting her works for screen. Tierney’s adaptation of her novels has garnered significant acclaim, with the series securing a second season on Crave and HBO Max, where it achieved top ratings during its debut season.

Fans can stay updated on Reid’s journey and insights by watching her engaging discussions and interactions with fans, shedding light on her experiences witnessing her literary creations come to life on screen, the unexpected fame surrounding her characters, and the emotional resonance of her widely acclaimed “Game Changers” series.
