While Whelan doesn’t recall the specific interaction, she vividly remembers meeting Parton in 1972, prior to the recording of ‘Jolene.’ At the age of 10, Whelan attended a concert featuring Parton during a family trip to Disneyland and approached the singer for an autograph, citing her admiration for the song ‘Coat of Many Colors.’
