Bulgaria emerged victorious in the 70th edition of the Eurovision song contest with Dara’s energetic anthem “Bangaranga.” During Saturday’s grand final in Vienna, Dara outperformed 24 other contestants, impressing both the audience and national juries with the song’s catchy beats and well-coordinated dance routine. This victory marks Bulgaria’s first win in the Eurovision competition.

Noam Bettan from Israel secured the second position in the contest, which faced some disruptions due to protests against Israel’s participation. Despite the controversies, acts from 25 countries showcased their talents at the Wiener Stadthalle arena, captivating millions of viewers worldwide.

The Eurovision contest, often likened to the World Cup for music, intertwines with politics, as seen in the ongoing tensions surrounding Israel’s involvement. Notable boycotts from Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland, and Slovenia added to the political atmosphere of the event.

Participants had a brief three minutes to captivate the audience and the national juries, who collectively determine the winner. The show featured a diverse range of performances, from fiery rock bands to solo artists delivering empowering ballads and dance-pop tunes.

Despite the political controversies surrounding Israel’s participation, Eurovision Director Martin Green emphasized the importance of enjoying the show’s artistic performances. The event, which drew 166 million viewers globally last year, is eyeing expansion with the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest Asia scheduled for November in Bangkok.
