Canada dominated the under-18 women’s world hockey championship semifinals, securing an 8-1 victory over the Czech Republic after scoring three quick goals within the first 5:12 of the game. Maddie McCullough, Laurie Aubin, and Rachel Piggott were the early goal scorers, propelling Canada to a lead they maintained throughout the game. With this win, the defending champions earned a spot in the gold-medal match against the United States, who defeated Sweden 9-1 in the other semifinal.

Head coach Vicky Sunohara expressed excitement about the upcoming Canada versus United States final, emphasizing the importance of playing disciplined hockey for the full duration of the game. Adrianna Milani netted two goals in the third period, while Sofia Ismael, McCullough, and Piggott also found the back of the net in the final period, with Ismael leading the team with 15 points in five games.

Despite a goal from Lucie Sindelarova early in the third period, the Czech Republic could not mount a comeback as Canadian goalie Lea-Rose Charrois made 20 saves to secure her third win of the tournament. Canada dominated the shots on goal, outshooting the Czech Republic 37-21.
