Canada and the United States are set to compete in a women’s flag football showcase this upcoming weekend. The teams will clash during halftime of the Buffalo Bills’ home game against the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium on Sunday. The match will last for eight minutes, marking the first time international women’s flag football teams will play on an NFL field. Notably, flag football is scheduled to make its Olympic debut in 2028 in Los Angeles.
Quarterback Sara Parker expressed enthusiasm about Team Canada’s participation in the halftime event, stating, “The NFL platform provides us with a great opportunity to showcase flag football, exhibit the talents of our athletes, and inspire girls everywhere by demonstrating that they too can engage in football.”
Canada recently secured a silver medal at the 2025 IFAF Continental Championship in Panama on September 14, following a bronze medal win at the 2025 World Games in China. Head coach Rachel Lessard conveyed gratitude to the Buffalo Bills for the remarkable opportunity, emphasizing that playing under the stadium lights and on this renowned field in front of passionate fans will be a cherished moment for the athletes. She highlighted the significance of the event as a representation of unity, respect, and the shared passion for sports between both nations.
