Dara Greig is demonstrating progress in her performance on the ice. The Montreal Victoire secured a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Goldeneyes, with Greig scoring her first goal in the Professional Women’s Hockey League early in the second period and providing an assist.

Expressing her satisfaction, Greig, who tallied three assists in her rookie season last year, mentioned her focus on enhancing her offensive contributions this season. Her goal in the game came swiftly in the second period following a turnover. Hayley Scamurra initiated the play by intercepting a clearing pass at the Vancouver blue line, leading to Greig finding the net with a well-placed shot.

Additionally, Greig assisted Shiann Darkangelo in the third period, contributing to Montreal’s 4-2 lead. Marie-Philip Poulin and Natalie Mlynkova also found the back of the net for Montreal, propelling them to second place in the PWHL standings with 11 points.

Vancouver’s goals were scored by Sophie Jaques and Michela Cava, but it was not enough to overcome Montreal’s strong performance. The game witnessed Montreal goalkeeper Sandra Abstreiter making 28 saves, while Vancouver’s Emerance Maschmeyer stopped 24 shots.

Born in Camden, N.J., Greig boasts an impressive collegiate career with 62 goals and 70 assists in 174 games between Wisconsin and Colgate, including a National Championship win with the University of Wisconsin Badgers in 2021. Victoire head coach Kori Cheverie praised Greig’s scoring abilities and physicality, highlighting her impact on the team’s performance.

Greig’s efforts were acknowledged by her teammates, with captain Marie-Philip Poulin commending her tenacity and growth from the previous season. Cheverie emphasized Greig’s versatility on the ice, being utilized in various game situations effectively. The evolution of Greig’s game was evident in the match, showcasing her adaptability and skill set.

Greig, whose younger brother Ridly plays as a centre for the NHL Ottawa Senators, expressed gratitude for his support and looked forward to spending time with him during the upcoming Christmas holidays.
