Drake aims to captivate the world with his upcoming album, symbolically starting by illuminating the CN Tower in icy blue hues. The iconic tower was adorned with projections at 9:45 p.m. to celebrate Drake’s latest album, “Iceman.” Simultaneously, Drake live-streamed the visual album on Youtube, showcasing aerial views of downtown Toronto intertwined with music videos of unreleased “Iceman” tracks.
During the live broadcast, a spectacular 10-minute fireworks display along Toronto’s waterfront illuminated the city skyline. The stream featured Drake in various locations, including inside the CN Tower, walking through city hall, and driving through Toronto streets at night.
In a poignant opening voiceover, Drake shared personal reflections, including his father’s cancer diagnosis and thoughts on his fans’ reactions during his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Last November, Drake disclosed to Complex Magazine his unconventional approach to album promotion, opting for theatrical live streams to challenge himself and explore his passion for acting.
This recent spectacle follows Drake’s earlier unveiling of the album’s release date through a massive ice sculpture in downtown Toronto back in April. Despite the sculpture attracting eager fans wielding pickaxes and blowtorches, safety concerns led to its removal, revealing the album’s release date as May 15.
The buildup to “Iceman” commenced in 2025 with a series of livestream episodes on Youtube. The latest episode, which took place in Toronto Thursday night, featured a grand display at the Harbourfront Centre and CN Tower projections. Notably, “Iceman Episode 1” debuted on July 4, 2025, offering a sneak peek of the single “What Did I Miss” and other unreleased tracks, showcasing Drake in various settings.
Drake’s ongoing success and musical evolution have been marked by his publicized rap feud with Kendrick Lamar in 2024. Despite not securing a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit since the feud, Drake remains tied with Michael Jackson for the most solo act No. 1 hits. His collaborative album with Partynextdoor in 2025 yielded the hit single “Nokia,” reaching No. 2 on the charts.
