This weekend’s weather forecast predicts a typical November weekend with chances of light snowfall. For those opting to stay indoors, the Elora Adventure Film Festival will be showcasing films and hosting discussions throughout the weekend.
On Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Eden Mills Community Hall will host a used book sale organized by the Eden Mills community. Additionally, the Waterloo Region Orchestra will present “Sounds of the Season” on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Maureen Forrester Recital Hall, featuring violin prodigy Sammy Wong.
The Elmira Theatre Company will kick off the staging of the drama “Willow Quartet” this weekend. Meanwhile, the Kitchener Rangers will have two home games – hosting the Saginaw Spirit on Friday night and the Kingston Frontenacs on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Guelph Storm will be on the road for the entire weekend. The Wild Writers Festival, hosted by the Balsillie School of International Affairs and the Centre of International Governance Innovation in Waterloo, will offer various talks and workshops, including sessions with renowned authors Madeleine Thien and Shani Mootoo.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists will present the Remembrance Art Show at 44 Gaukel, Kitchener, focusing on honoring Canadian soldiers’ sacrifices through art. The Guelph Film Festival will showcase documentary films centered on themes of renewal, including a special event called Tiny Docs by Tiny People featuring children’s documentary films.
In Cambridge, the Central Presbyterian Church will host “The Road Home” on Saturday at 7 p.m., featuring music and stories with CBC host Tom Allen and other musicians. The 117th Yates Cup will take place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at University Stadium, Waterloo, where the Laurier Golden Hawks will face off against the Queen’s Gaels.
Lastly, various local markets and craft bazaars will be held this weekend, including the Etsy Holiday Market at RIM Park, Waterloo, the Merry and Bright Craft Market at Conestoga Banquet Hall, and the Snowflake Bazaar at 130 Victoria Ave., Cambridge, among others.
