A woman from Florida was charged on Tuesday with attempted murder and multiple felony charges for allegedly firing gunshots at Rihanna’s Los Angeles home. The District Attorney, Nathan Hochman, stated that the singer, her partner A$AP Rocky, their children, and Rihanna’s mother were present on the property during the incident.
The accused, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, faced charges for the shooting incident that occurred outside Rihanna’s Beverly Hills residence. Court documents revealed that Ortiz was charged with 10 counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an inhabited vehicle or dwelling, all classified as felonies. She appeared in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County before Judge Theresa McGonigle and was represented by Deputy Public Defender Jamarcus Bradford.
Ortiz initially pleaded not guilty through her attorney but later opted to postpone the arraignment until March 25. She was held on a bail amount of $1.8 million US. The judge issued a protective order compelling Ortiz to stay away from Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their home, along with restrictions on firearms possession.
According to Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell, there were ten individuals at Rihanna’s residence when the shots were fired. Investigations suggested that Ortiz traveled from Florida to the area, although the exact timeline remains unclear. Ortiz, a licensed speech pathologist from Orlando, was apprehended after the shooting, and a weapon was seized by the authorities.
While the motive behind the shooting remains undisclosed, neither the police nor the prosecution have confirmed any connection between Ortiz and Rihanna. Efforts to obtain comments from the involved parties, including Rihanna’s publicist and manager, were unavailing. Visual evidence from KABC-TV showed bullet holes on Rihanna’s property, indicating the severity of the incident.
Rihanna, a renowned artist with numerous accolades, including nine Grammy Awards and multiple chart-topping hits, such as “We Found Love” and “Umbrella,” was at home during the shooting alongside her partner, A$AP Rocky, and their three children. The couple welcomed their third child, Rocki Irish Mayers, in September 2025.
