Democrats from the House oversight committee unveiled a letter with suggestive content addressed to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, allegedly signed by President Donald Trump. The letter, part of a 2003 birthday album for Epstein, featured a drawing of a female figure and a birthday message. Trump has disavowed any involvement, initiating a $10-billion lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal for reporting the story.
The entire birthday album, including the letter, was shared by the House committee after receiving it from Epstein’s estate. The White House reiterated Trump’s denial, emphasizing that he did not create the drawing or sign the letter. Deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich showcased various examples of Trump’s authentic signature to support the denial.
Amid bipartisan pressure in Congress for the release of Epstein files, the letter’s disclosure fueled further interest in the case. Trump’s past association with Epstein, despite claiming a falling-out years ago, remains a topic of scrutiny. The Justice Department has begun providing records from the Epstein investigation to the House oversight committee, following a subpoena to the estate for various documents.
