Brauweiler explained that if the storm tracks east of the Avalon, the strongest winds of 120-130 km/h will remain offshore, but there will still be increased rainfall and wind gusts of 70-80 km/h on the peninsula. However, a closer track could bring high winds directly to the Avalon.
Anticipated effects of the storm include rainfall on Friday and Saturday in the Avalon Peninsula, with a transition to snow in Labrador. Trick-or-treaters on Halloween may experience challenging weather conditions, with showers and gusty winds expected on the west and south coasts of Newfoundland. Central Newfoundland is likely to have cloudy weather with temperatures around 10°C.
