Israel announced on Monday that the Red Cross had delivered the body of another deceased hostage from Gaza to the Israeli military, as stated by the Israeli prime minister’s office. This recent delivery brings the total number of hostages’ remains in Gaza to 12, with Palestinian militant group Hamas facing challenges in locating them amid the debris left by the conflict.
The retrieval and transfer of deceased hostages’ bodies in Gaza have posed a significant hurdle to the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza initiative. A spokesperson from the Israeli government mentioned on Sunday that Hamas is aware of the locations of the bodies.
Israel permitted an Egyptian technical team’s entry on Sunday to collaborate with the Red Cross in the search for the bodies. The team will utilize excavator machinery and trucks to explore areas beyond the designated yellow line in Gaza, where Israeli forces initially withdrew under Trump’s plan.
