“Jared Leto’s ‘Tron: Ares’ Performance Sparks Mixed Reactions”

Share

Jared Leto’s performance in the latest sci-fi installment, “Tron: Ares,” has left many feeling sympathetic towards him. The film, which can be best described as a derivative of numerous AI-apocalypse movies, showcases Leto portraying a malfunctioning computer program seeking to experience empathy while maintaining a penchant for hair mousse. Despite Leto’s aspirations to be recognized as a serious actor, his film choices, including “Suicide Squad” and “Morbius,” have left audiences questioning his credibility.

Compared to the debacle that was “Morbius,” “Tron: Ares” is not as abysmal but still faces harsh criticism, being labeled as one of the worst big-budget productions to date. The film’s lackluster reception even before its release has contributed to its forgettable nature, failing to evoke strong emotions from viewers.

The storyline of “Tron: Ares” picks up after its predecessor, “Tron: Legacy,” but with a significant shift in characters and plot development. The film introduces Eve Kim, a tech CEO, as the central character involved in groundbreaking AI research alongside a rival company. The narrative unfolds with the discovery of new technological advancements in cyberspace, leading to a series of events involving weapon production and the pursuit of a mysterious “Permanence Code.”

The film’s blend of elements from various sci-fi classics, such as “I, Robot,” and the incorporation of a tech-centric superhero figure akin to Elon Musk, results in a mixed reception from audiences. Despite its shortcomings in delivering a coherent message on AI ethics and corporate influence, “Tron: Ares” manages to entertain with its sleek cinematography and a commendable score.

While the film falls short in delivering a profound commentary on AI and technology, it offers moments of excitement and action, making it a decent watch if one can overlook its shortcomings. Ultimately, “Tron: Ares” may not be the epitome of cinematic excellence, but it presents a blend of entertainment and moral ambiguity that resonates with contemporary societal dilemmas.
