Jesse Minter has been appointed as the new head coach for the Baltimore Ravens, returning to the team where he previously served under John Harbaugh’s coaching staff. Minter, who most recently worked as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers, steps in to fill the position left vacant after Harbaugh’s departure following an 18-year tenure with the Ravens.
During his time with the Ravens from 2017 to 2020, Minter progressed from a defensive assistant to the defensive backs coach before moving on to Vanderbilt as a defensive coordinator. His experience and success led to him being a sought-after candidate, with interviews conducted with several teams before ultimately landing the head coaching role with the Ravens.
Minter expressed his excitement about joining the Ravens, emphasizing his alignment with the organization’s values and dedication to excellence in football. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta praised Minter’s leadership qualities and deep football knowledge, highlighting his family background in football and his successful track record at various levels of the sport.
Prior to his role with the Chargers, Minter served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan for two seasons. His strong ties with the Harbaugh coaching family contributed to his selection as the Ravens’ new head coach, marking the fourth head coach in the team’s history.
The Ravens faced a challenging 2025 season, marked by a slow start and significant injuries to key players. Despite a late-season resurgence, the team fell short of the playoffs, leading to Harbaugh’s departure and subsequent hiring by the New York Giants.
In a separate development, the Tennessee Titans announced the appointment of Robert Saleh as their new head coach. Saleh, who previously coached the New York Jets and returned to San Francisco as a defensive coordinator, aims to lead the Titans back to contention after consecutive disappointing seasons. General manager Mike Borgonzi praised Saleh’s qualities as a leader and his ability to navigate adversity, highlighting his potential to guide the team towards sustained success.
Saleh inherits a team with promising young talent, including rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the top overall pick in the 2025 draft. He expressed confidence in the team’s potential and emphasized the importance of surrounding oneself with the right people for success. Saleh is set to be formally introduced as the Titans’ new head coach in the coming days, taking on the challenge of revitalizing the franchise and steering it towards a brighter future.
