Kevin Spacey Settles Sexual Assault Claims

Share

Three men who accused actor Kevin Spacey of sexual assault have reached a settlement for their civil claims before the scheduled trial at the High Court in London, according to court records. The individuals claimed that the Oscar-winning actor had mistreated them between 2000 and 2013. Kevin Spacey has consistently denied these allegations.

Scheduled civil trials were halted by the presiding judge, Christina Lambert, who announced that both parties had agreed to a settlement. The terms of the settlement remain confidential, and no details were disclosed, with no order issued regarding costs. The judge’s order, dated on a Friday, was made public the following Wednesday.

Kevin Spacey, aged 66, faced trial in London in 2023 for nine alleged sex offenses against four men and was acquitted on all charges. Two of the claimants involved in the civil case provided testimony during Spacey’s criminal trial. Additionally, Spacey successfully defended himself in a $40 million US civil lawsuit brought by actor Anthony Rapp in New York in 2022.

Once a highly acclaimed actor, Kevin Spacey’s career suffered setbacks due to the sexual abuse allegations. His notable works include films such as “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “L.A. Confidential,” along with the TV series “House of Cards.” He received Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in “The Usual Suspects” (1995) and Best Actor for “American Beauty” (1999).

Spacey, who served as the artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre from 2004 to 2015, has mentioned finding work in smaller film projects and stage productions in recent years, as opposed to the prominent Hollywood roles he previously held. His representatives have been contacted for comment.
