Goalie Anthony Stolarz has inked a new four-year contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs, with an average annual value of $3.75 million US. Stolarz, aged 31, showcased his skills in 34 games last season, securing a notable 21-8-3 record and an impressive .926 save percentage. He stood out as the top goaltender in terms of save percentage (.926) and ranked third in goals-against average (2.14) among goalies who played over 25 games last season.
This extension follows Toronto’s recent announcement that Joseph Woll would be taking a break from the team for personal reasons, paving the way for Stolarz to step up. Additionally, the Maple Leafs have enlisted the experienced James Reimer for a professional tryout, adding depth to their goaltending roster.
Stolarz boasts a solid track record across 142 NHL regular-season games, playing for various teams such as Philadelphia, Edmonton, Anaheim, and Toronto, amassing a commendable 64-39-12 record and a .918 save percentage. Notably, Stolarz clinched the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers in 2024, showcasing his prowess on the ice. The seasoned 37-year-old Reimer, hailing from Morweena, Man., is embarking on his 16th NHL season, having recorded a 10-10-2 record over 22 games split between Buffalo and Anaheim last season.
