New York Giants owner John Mara revealed on Monday that he has recently been diagnosed with cancer. In a statement issued by the team, Mara shared that he is undergoing a treatment plan as recommended by medical professionals. While not specifying the type of cancer he is battling, Mara requested privacy regarding the matter.
Expressing strength and optimism, Mara stated his determination to achieve a positive outcome. He expressed gratitude for the tremendous support he has received personally, professionally, and medically during this challenging time.
Despite his health condition, the 70-year-old affirmed his intention to continue his duties as the team’s president and CEO while undergoing treatment. Mara was present at the Giants’ practice facility in East Rutherford, N.J., last week when head coach Brian Daboll announced rookie Jaxson Dart as the starting quarterback.
The Mara family has maintained ownership of the renowned NFL franchise since its inception in 1925.
