Burnaby RCMP has initiated a province-wide billboard campaign in British Columbia to aid in the search for 11-year-old Kai Pavlovic, who has been missing. The billboards are strategically positioned across various locations in the Lower Mainland and the province, starting from Friday, as confirmed by the police.

Const. Joelle Kerridge from Burnaby RCMP expressed the importance of public vigilance in locating Kai, highlighting the relentless efforts put in by their investigators since they received a wellness check request for Kai on September 26. Authorities suspect that Kai is currently in the care of an unidentified individual, prompting a direct appeal to this caretaker or anyone familiar with them to come forward.

Acknowledging the sensitive nature of the situation, Kerridge refrained from discussing details of their interactions with Kai’s family due to the ongoing investigation. However, she emphasized the critical need for information on the caretaker’s identity, urging the public to observe the billboards and promptly contact Burnaby RCMP with any relevant details.

Despite inquiries about Kai’s safety, Kerridge clarified that the circumstances of Kai being under a caretaker’s supervision were not uncommon based on their communication with the family. To cater to Kai’s family’s connections within the Serbian community, police have also disseminated a Serbian-language news release.

Describing Kai as approximately five feet tall with a slender frame and brown hair, authorities urge individuals with information on his whereabouts to reach out to Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or their local law enforcement agency. Notably, the case does not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert, as determined by Kerridge, as it does not align with the specific requirements for issuing such alerts in British Columbia.
