RCMP has pressed charges against a motorist implicated in a deadly crash in Whitehorse last month. The incident, which involved two minivans, occurred on Sept. 30 along the Alaska Highway near Azure Road and Kathleen Road, close to the Crestview neighborhood. According to authorities, the two vehicles, including a taxi, were traveling in opposite directions on the highway at the time of the collision. Ricky John, aged 64 and one of the drivers, lost his life in the accident alongside his pet. The taxi driver, identified as Amanpreet Brar, sustained injuries, as did a passenger in the vehicle, necessitating both of their hospitalizations. In an announcement made on Wednesday, RCMP disclosed that Brar, aged 23, is facing multiple charges related to his driving conduct, such as crossing a double solid line, veering left of the center line, and driving recklessly. Brar is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 18.
