The Grey Cup game is set to make a return to Regina in 2027, marking the second time in five years that the CFL final will take place in the capital city, home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Premier Scott Moe expressed excitement about showcasing the strong fan base and community pride for the Saskatchewan football team in 2027. Saskatchewan Roughriders president Craig Reynolds acknowledged the support from the City of Regina and the province in securing the 2027 Grey Cup.
Regina Mayor Chad Bachynski’s spokesperson mentioned that the City of Regina has committed $1.5 million for the Grey Cup, including support for transit shuttles and police services. Bachynski highlighted the welcoming atmosphere in Regina, ensuring that both diehard fans and first-time visitors will feel like family during the 2027 Grey Cup.
The upcoming Grey Cup event is scheduled for November 7, 2027, a week earlier than usual, and will be held at the new Mosaic Stadium, marking the fifth championship in Regina and the second at the venue. The Roughriders have previously hosted the championship game four times since their establishment in 1910.
CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston praised the collaborative effort behind the bid package presented by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, with strong support from the province, City of Regina, and local hotel operators. The 2027 Grey Cup festival will be entirely indoors for the first time, offering a unique experience for attendees.
Johnston emphasized the outstanding quality of Saskatchewan’s bid, mentioning the strong football culture in the province. While the other bidding teams were not disclosed, Johnston described Saskatchewan’s bid as exceptional and well-received within the CFL community.
