Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas has announced the release dates for two new books in her popular romantasy series, “A Court of Thorns and Roses” (ACOTAR), after a five-year wait. During an interview on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Maas revealed that the follow-up to 2021’s “A Court of Silver Flames” will be available on Oct. 27, with the seventh book set for release on Jan. 12, 2027.

Maas described the upcoming story as significantly large and unexpectedly flowing out of her during the writing process. The series, which follows three sisters in a captivating yet perilous Fae world, will be narrated across three books: ACOTAR 6, ACOTAR 7, and an unnamed third book, meant to be consumed as a single extensive narrative rather than a trilogy.

Having sold over 75 million books globally in 40 languages, Maas, known for her “Crescent City” and “Throne of Glass” series, is credited with popularizing the romantasy genre, especially on BookTok during the pandemic.

Bloomsbury, Maas’s publisher, experienced a surge of up to 20% in shares following the announcement, with CEO Nigel Newton expressing excitement over the forthcoming novels. The ACOTAR series, originally published between 2015 and 2021, witnessed a sales boost in recent years, thanks in part to TikTok superfans. Maas signed a contract in 2023 to write three more books in the series.

Fans eagerly anticipating the new releases have expressed joy upon learning the release dates, as shared by Maas on Instagram. Enthusiasts took to social media platforms to celebrate the news, with one user remarking on the rarity of an author releasing two books within a short span, playfully nudging George R.R. Martin, author of “Game of Thrones,” known for delays in his series.

The long-awaited books have generated widespread excitement among fans, with many eagerly anticipating diving back into the enchanting world crafted by Sarah J. Maas.
