“SeatGeek Canada Hit with New Fines for Ticket Resale Violations”

Share

SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.

The first fine, totaling $15,000, was issued for reportedly offering a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the resale price limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly not disclosing the complete ticket price when a seat was purchased from a primary seller.

Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has provided immediate responses regarding the specific events linked to the fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. Previously, in August, the province had already fined the company $25,000 for comparable violations.
