A non-profit organization in London is taking action to replace 120 newly planted trees that were maliciously uprooted last month. The Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery, situated near Brescia College, has generously provided space on their grounds for 90 surviving saplings belonging to ReForest London.
Expressing shock and dismay over the vandalism, Sister Linda emphasized the beauty and significance of the tree planting initiative for the environment. The initial planting took place at Arthur Ford Park but was disrupted when all 120 saplings were removed just three days later.
Following the incident, the Sisters extended an offer to ReForest London to replant the trees on their property. The executive director of the organization, Rodger Moran, praised the Sisters’ support and collaboration, highlighting their long-standing partnership in various environmental projects.
Both organizations share a common vision of environmental preservation, with the Sisters envisioning a serene and rejuvenating space once the trees mature. Moran expressed gratitude for the new planting location, foreseeing it as a peaceful retreat for local residents and university students.
Despite the setback caused by the tree uprooting, Moran remains optimistic, citing the overwhelming community support received. This incident, although concerning, has united Londoners in rallying behind ReForest London, showcasing the city’s dedication to environmental causes.
The tree replanting event is scheduled for Wednesday evening behind the monastery, with registration available online for those interested in participating.
