The annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day parade brought crowds to Weber Street on a brisk Monday morning. Temperatures started at 11°C as the parade began at 9:30 a.m. in downtown Kitchener, but a mix of sun and clouds provided some warmth for spectators.
Various highlights from the parade included a pipe band performance, festhalls ambassadors on a float, dancers showcasing their talents, an inflatable Onkle Hans on a beer keg float, and band members playing music along the route. Tante Frieda, one of the K-W Oktoberfest mascots, also waved to the cheering crowds from a float.
Prior to the parade, the Onkel Hans Food Drive collected non-perishable food items and monetary donations from attendees.
