Grab your favorite summer drink and make your way to the waterfront because the popular reality show “Summer House” is expanding to Canada, leaving the Hamptons behind for the charming cottage country of Ontario.

Hayu, NBCUniversal’s reality streaming platform, and Lark Productions, based in British Columbia, have announced the commencement of production for “Summer House Canada” in the picturesque Muskoka region. This marks the first international adaptation of the hit reality series.

Hendrik McDermott, the managing director of international DTC at NBCUniversal, expressed excitement about Muskoka being the ideal Canadian backdrop to introduce “Summer House Canada” and continue the franchise’s success.

Similar to its American counterpart, the Canadian edition will follow a group of friends who spend weekends at a shared cottage, where relationships and drama unfold.

Erin Haskett, the president and executive producer at Lark Productions, highlighted the global popularity of “Summer House” for its genuine friendships, vibrant personalities, and memorable moments created during a summer together.

“Summer House Canada” joins other Canadian reality TV adaptations such as “Canada Shore,” currently filming its second season in Kelowna, B.C., for Paramount+, and the upcoming return of “Big Brother Canada” on CTV and Crave.

The announcement of “Summer House Canada” follows the U.S. version receiving its first Emmy nomination after ten seasons for best unstructured reality program. The aftermath of the recent season was filled with drama as cast members revealed post-production that they had been in secret relationships for months, causing rifts among the group.

The Canadian version of the show will consist of 10 episodes and will be available exclusively on Hayu. Casting details will be revealed in the upcoming months, with the series scheduled to premiere in 2027.
