A 19-year-old female pedestrian tragically lost her life in a collision involving an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser in Essex County during the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on County Road 20 close to Iler Road near Harrow, as reported by the Special Investigations Unit of the province.
The OPP cruiser, operated by an officer from the Essex County detachment, was involved in the collision. The young woman was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The Special Investigations Unit is currently conducting an inquiry into the matter and urging anyone who may have witnessed the event or possesses related footage to come forward to assist with the investigation. The case has been assigned two investigators, two forensic specialists, and one collision reconstruction expert.
