Toyota has announced a recall of 32,733 vehicles in Canada following a rearview camera issue that poses a safety risk, as reported by Transport Canada recently. The problem lies in the rearview camera system, which may malfunction, leading to incorrect or no display of the image when the vehicle is in reverse, a requirement under Canadian regulations.
According to the official notice, a faulty rearview camera image could hinder a driver’s visibility while reversing, potentially elevating the chances of a collision. The models affected by the recall are all Sequoia vehicles manufactured between 2023 and 2025, as well as all Tundra models, including hybrids, produced from 2022 to 2025. The recall specifically targets vehicles equipped with a 14-inch multimedia display.
Toyota will inform impacted vehicle owners via written notifications, although drivers can also verify if their vehicle is included in the recall by checking Toyota’s recall database online. Owners of the affected models can visit a Toyota dealership to have their multimedia display software updated for rectification.
