Savannah Rose Kulla-Davies tragically lost her life when she met her ex-partner on Tuesday, unbeknownst to her father, who expressed deep regret over letting her go. The fatal incident occurred in a Brampton, Ont., plaza, where Anthony Deschepper, 38, allegedly shot and killed Kulla-Davies before fleeing with their 17-month-old daughter, triggering an Amber Alert. Deschepper was later fatally shot by police in Niagara Falls.

Kulla-Davies’s family recalled how she embarked on what seemed like a typical day, grabbing a drink from Starbucks before heading to meet Deschepper at the plaza. The meeting was intended to allow Deschepper to see their daughter, showcasing Kulla-Davies’s compassionate nature despite their relationship status.

Known for her love for dance and her work as a social worker, Kulla-Davies transitioned to prioritize motherhood after having four children. Her father and brother described her as a devoted and successful mother, highlighting her dedication to her children.

Although Kulla-Davies had her hands full caring for her children, her brother emphasized her unwavering support and kindness towards others. The family expressed their profound grief and love for Kulla-Davies, wishing for her return.

Deschepper’s history of firearm charges and the delay in addressing his case were revealed, with Kulla-Davies previously filing a complaint against him. His trial was pending when the tragic incident occurred, prompting criticism of the bail system. Investigations into Deschepper’s death are ongoing, with a woman in his company facing charges as an accessory to murder.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown called for stricter bail reforms following the revelations about Deschepper’s past charges. Efforts are being made to enhance bail regulations, with a focus on ensuring the safety of individuals awaiting trial. Kulla-Davies’s brother expressed that she did not deserve the tragic outcome of her encounter with Deschepper.
