“Trump Signs Bill Requiring Epstein Files Disclosure”

Share

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a bill that requires his administration to release files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Initially, Trump resisted these efforts but later yielded to pressure from his own party. The bill mandates the U.S. Justice Department to disclose all files and communications concerning Epstein, including details about the investigation into his death in 2019 within 30 days.

While allowing redactions for the protection of Epstein’s victims in ongoing federal investigations, the bill prohibits the withholding of information due to embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity. The Trump administration, as recent as last week, had opposed the release of these files but changed course following mounting political pressure. The House of Representatives passed the bill with overwhelming support, with only one dissenting vote from Republican Rep. Clay Higgins.

Despite Trump’s past association with Epstein, he has consistently denied knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities and asserted that he had severed ties with him long ago. The bill’s passage signifies a significant development in the quest for transparency regarding Epstein’s case and has implications for ongoing federal investigations.
