“Windsor-Essex Thanksgiving: What’s Open/Closed”

It’s the Thanksgiving weekend in Windsor-Essex! Whether you’re enjoying a family dinner or taking a well-deserved break, here’s a rundown of what’s open and closed in the area.

City services:
– City of Windsor administrative offices will be closed on Monday for Thanksgiving, with the next council meeting scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20.
– The 311 customer contact center will also be closed on Monday, but residents can access self-service online through the mobile app. Emergency reports for issues like fallen trees or sewer backups can be made by calling 519-255-6326.
– The 211 services will be available 24/7.
– Parking ticket payment offices will be closed on Monday, but online payments are still an option.
– Garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection will continue as scheduled, but public drop-off and household chemical waste depots will be closed on the holiday.
– The Homelessness and Housing Help Hub will be open around the clock throughout the holiday, reachable at (519) 253-3806.
– Transit Windsor buses will follow the Sunday/holiday schedule on Monday, and the office will be closed.

Parks, recreation, and culture:
– Community centers, customer care centers, and arenas will be closed on Monday except for pre-booked events.
– The Windsor International and Aquatic Training Centre, Gino and Liz Marcus Community Pool, WFCU Community, and Adventure Bay waterpark pool will all be closed.
– Park splash pads will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Lakeview Park Marina office and fuel dock will remain open.
– The Windsor Public Library will be closed on Sunday and Monday, but digital services are accessible online.
– The Chimczuk Museum, Francois Baby House, and the Streetcar at the Legacy Beacon will be closed on Monday, following their regular schedules.
