Windsor police are currently investigating a pedestrian accident that occurred on Sunday night in the western part of the city. The incident took place on Sandwich Street around 8 p.m., as reported by the authorities.
Initial findings from the police reveal that the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk. The impact of the collision propelled the individual into the opposite lane, where they were hit by another vehicle, as stated in a press release issued by the police on Monday.
The victim, a 62-year-old male, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later on.
Both drivers involved in the incident remained at the scene, cooperating with the authorities. Following the investigation, Sandwich Street was temporarily closed between Mill Street and Detroit Street but has since been reopened to traffic.
