To celebrate this historic moment, a local restaurant released a limited number of T-shirts featuring Perfetti’s first name in blue capital letters, along with the time of 0:1.6 – denoting the seconds remaining when his goal equalized Game 7 against the St. Louis Blues at 3-3.
Despite the clock being adjusted to 2.2 seconds, the Jets eventually clinched victory in double overtime with a goal from Adam Lowry. The official scoresheet recorded the goal at 19:57 – making it the latest tying Game 7 goal in NHL history. The commemorative shirt, also bearing the phrase “We Believe,” retained the original 1.6-second time stamp.
Although commemorative T-shirts were made available, Perfetti did not manage to secure one for himself. “My parents and grandparents were present at that game. I believe they acquired a couple, but I personally did not. Nevertheless, they were impressive shirts,” Perfetti mentioned during a Jets training camp session.
The forward from Whitby, Ontario, reflects on the “Manitoba Miracle” goal but also recalls the disappointment of the Jets’ subsequent elimination in the playoffs by the Dallas Stars. Despite this setback, Perfetti achieved personal milestones last season, playing all 82 games and achieving a career-best 50 points from 18 goals and 32 assists.
