The 2026 Met Gala embraced the theme of “Costume Art” from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, with a dress code highlighting “Fashion is Art.” Despite some controversy surrounding the event’s billionaire sponsorship, the red carpet showcased a night of fashion theater. Celebrities drew inspiration from classical sculptures, iconic artworks, and traditional Thai dance, transforming the red carpet into a living gallery of visual culture.

Celebrities like Emma Chamberlain, Sabrina Carpenter, Blackpink’s Lisa, and more, embodied artistic themes through their unique interpretations of famous works. From Heidi Klum’s Veiled Vestal look to BeyoncĂ©’s anatomical study ensemble, each outfit paid homage to various art forms and historical references.

The event featured Madonna as The Temptation of St. Anthony, Kendall Jenner as Winged Victory, Hailey Bieber in homage to Yves Saint Laurent, Bad Bunny representing the aging body, Chase Infiniti as the Venus de Milo, Luke Evans inspired by Tom of Finland, Audrey Nuna in abstract expressionism, Angela Bassett as the Girl in a Pink Dress, Rachel Zegler as Lady Jane Grey, Cardi B embodying The Doll, Hunter Schafer as Gustav Klimt’s Mäda Primavesi, and Anok Yai as the Black Madonna.

Each celebrity’s outfit at the 2026 Met Gala reflected a deep connection to art history, showcasing a blend of creativity, innovation, and reverence for the world of art.
