A man in a small northeastern Saskatchewan community faces charges for the death of his wife, leaving residents shocked. Kevin Searcy, aged 68, is accused of second-degree murder in the passing of Diane Searcy, 69, in Snowden, situated about 200 kilometers northeast of Saskatoon. The RCMP responded to a wellness check at the couple’s residence around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, discovering Diane deceased. Kevin was taken into custody at the scene.
Neighbor Larry McCamon expressed surprise at the incident, noting Diane’s struggles with dementia and Kevin’s care for her as her condition deteriorated. He mentioned that the couple used to stroll around the village, but Diane’s condition led to her being less visible over time. McCamon shared his sympathy for both individuals.
The RCMP major crimes unit is actively investigating the case, with Kevin Searcy set to appear in Melfort provincial court on Friday morning. The community continues to grapple with the tragedy as law enforcement pursues further inquiries.
