Two adults have tragically lost their lives in a Brampton house fire that also resulted in four others, including a child, being in critical condition. The incident occurred near McLaughlin Road and Remembrance Road around 2:13 a.m. Thursday, prompting a response from Brampton Fire and emergency services.

Paramedics confirmed that two adults were found deceased at the scene, leading to the evacuation of multiple residences. Three adults and a child, aged between four and five, were rushed to the hospital in critical condition due to burns and smoke inhalation. Andy Glynn, the fire chief of Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, disclosed that the deceased individuals were discovered both inside and just outside the building.

The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal is collaborating with first responders to determine the cause of the fire. Peel Regional Police revealed that a multi-generational family of nine and two other individuals resided in the building, with three family members currently unaccounted for.

The search for the missing individuals will involve dismantling the home with an excavator, as Chief Glynn emphasized the challenges faced by firefighters due to the intensity of the blaze. The adjacent buildings have also suffered damage and remain evacuated during the ongoing investigation.

Mayor Patrick Brown extended his condolences to the victims and criticized the building owner as an “absentee landlord” who neglected safety regulations and compliance requirements. Neighbors described the fire’s rapid spread, expressing concern for the safety of the community members affected by the devastating incident.
